Kat Murphy

For nearly two decades, Contemporary artist Kat Murphy has worked in the art and design industry. She started honing her skills as a professional decorative painter and venetian plaster artist in London. She has collaborated with artists and professionals along the way, near and far, in window display design, installation art, prop sculpture, custom murals and interior design. Her design sense and quality of craft is revealed in her artwork where she creates intricate, color-rich, multilayered surfaces with vibrant color. Pop culture, repetitive pattern, and line drawing inform her paintings.
Art studies include RISD, Print Design, the International Institute Madrid Spain, School of Fine Art at Boston University, founding member and former Artist in Residence at Hygienic Art, New London, CT and a fellowship at Griffis and Orpheus Foundation, Bulgaria. In addition, she was a draftsman on the Sol LeWitt "Wall Drawing #1196" at the New Britain Museum of American Art.
